St. Pat’s had a sister parish relationship with Nueva Trinidad, El Salvador for over 30 years.
When St. Pat’s was closed it was important to them that their situation not become a crisis for their brothers and sisters in Nueva Trinidad and they committed to continuing their relationship with and supporting them. Their partnership with Keystone—both in our role as their fiscal sponsor and our community's generosity—has helped to make that possible.
The St. Pat’s community had a more than 20-year tradition of an annual walk-a-long in the fall. They walk to remind themselves of the walk the people made from refugee camps in Honduras, to repopulate and rebuild Nueva Trinidad.
This year they will again walk from St. Joe’s (732 18th Ave E, Seattle, WA 98112) to St. Pat’s—gathering in St. Pat’s social hall (2702 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102) for updates, food and time together. If you can't walk that distance, please consider meeting them at St. Pat's.
This walk is a fundraiser, providing nutrition support for seniors and the community center. With drought affecting the farmers, and the increasing cost of food, the need of the community is great. They hope to match last year's collection of $2,500. Donations via cash, checks (made out to Keystone UCC: 5019 Keystone Place, Seattle, WA 98103) or online (keystoneseattle.org [choose Nueva Trinidad]) are welcomed. Questions: Kate Speltz at katespeltz@yahoo.com. EVERYONE is welcome to join in! And we hope that you will.
